Identify and describe the properties of 2-D shapes, including the number of sides and line symmetry in a vertical line

Unit 26. A six page unit that covers the special properties of a square and gives pupils the opportunity to identify rectangles and vertical lines of symmetry.

Identify and describe the properties of 3-D shapes, including the number of edges, vertices and faces

Unit 27. A two page unit containing an exercise on identifying faces, edges and vertices on 3-D shapes.

Identify 2-D shapes on the surface of 3-D shapes, [for example, a circle on a cylinder and a triangle on a pyramid]

Unit 28. A two page unit containing an exercise on identifying 2-D shapes on the faces of 3-D shapes.

Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anti-clockwise).

Unit 31. A four page unit involving identifying turns in terms of left and right and clockwise and anticlockwise rotations.

Order and arrange combinations of mathematical objects in patterns and sequences

Unit 30. A three page unit providing an exercise on completing sequential patterns.
